A CASE REPORT OF DYSPLASIA EPIPHYSIALIS HEMIMELICA

Abstract
This is a case of Dysplasia epiphysialis hemimelica and the reference were reviewed.
This condition occurred in a 6 year old girl the distal of right ¢¥ tibia medially where the gradual bony
enlarging with minimal subjective difficulties. There were no inflammatory changes on the local area.
The initial diagnosis was made by the roentgenological study of the lesion as chronic osteomyelitis and
secondary epiphyseal dystrophy. Clinical symptoms, signs, roentgenographic findings and histological study
of the specimen obtained with operative curettage led to final diagnosis.
In reviewing the literature on Dysplasia epiphysialis hemimelica, the following were characteristic,
1. The disease is self-limited and limiting to one extremity and to half of the epiphysis
2. Microscopically, indistinguishable from osteochondroma
3. Seldom required excision except when it produce deformity
4. Lesions retain potential for cartilage proliferation and should be closely followed in adult.
